COVID changed the game forever.
Before 2020 it was a very rare opportunity to send a #selftape. Today is more common to do your #casting from home than in a studio.
Here I share you 5 years of sending portraits from my room. Selftapes #portraits from 2020 till the day before I created this post.
As you can see, the actor and the technique has evolved over the years.
Of course, everything have their pros and cons. I like the accessibility to projects around the world, sending material from my own computer. But nothing beats the human interaction at casting studios.
I found the way to create a selftapes studio at home, in harmony to the rest of my place, where I eat and sleep. However, I wasn't that lucky in the firsts years of recording my own material as I had to move furnitures, setting lights and trying to achieve the most decent image to send for jobs opportunities.
Of course it's always fun to dress your self as a doctor, or a mechanic, or a chef, just to make a dialogue in a corner of your place, nevertheless, I will always prefer to attend studios that are designed to do castings, that environment makes me feel stronger.
But work is work.
If you ask me for a selftape, I would be more than happy to do it. If you ask me to go to your studio, I'll be there with a big smile.
What do you think about this method? Let me know in the comments!
